Laser Scanners \ A laser scanner is a device that captures a real-world object or environment to collect data on its shape. The collected data can then be used to construct digital, three-dimensional (3D) models. 3D laser scanners are capable of capturing up to 1 million points per second.

Software \ The Hexagon group of companies provides a multitude of software, including enterprise engineering software, geospatially powered software, surveying and construction software and dimensional metrology software packages.

Theodolites \ A theodolite is an optical instrument consisting of a small mounted telescope rotatable in horizontal and vertical planes. Theodolites are used to measure angles in surveying, meteorology and navigation.

Total/Laser Stations \ A total station is a multi-purpose electronic surveying instrument with a built-in electronic distance meter capable of measuring horizontal distances, slope distances, angles, vertical height differences, 3D coordinates and a number of other positional features. All measured data can be stored onboard or on a removable storage device. Modern total stations provide onboard programs and graphics including image capture capabilities.

Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) \ A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is a quality control device used by manufacturing companies to measure the physical geometric characteristics of an object in three dimensions, to accuracies up to one-millionth of a meter. A CMM can use various methods to collect dimensional data from a part including touch, laser and camera sensors.

Gauges and Hand Tools \ Benchtop measuring gauges and measuring hand tools are used by manufacturing companies to achieve quick measurements on the shop floor in one, two or three dimensions.

Laser Tracker Systems \ A laser tracker system is a portable 3D industrial measurement system that uses a laser beam and a remote reflector to measure large distances in three dimensions for large-volume measurements such as automobiles and airplanes.

Machine Tool Probing \ Machine tool probing solutions are used on industrial milling machines, machining centers, lathes, grinding machines and turning centers to measure parts during the manufacturing process. The probes help simplify setup, improve quality and reduce scrap.

Multisensor and Optical Systems \ Optical measurement systems for manufacturing use a magnified video camera to collect dimensional measurements from parts that are sensitive to touch or contain small inspection features that cannot be touched. Many of these systems also incorporate other sensor types such as touch and laser to make them more flexible.

Portable Measuring Arms \ Portable measuring arms or portable CMMs are different from traditional CMMs in that they most commonly take the form of an articulated arm. These manually operated arms have six or seven rotary axes with rotary encoders.

Probing Systems and Styli \ Probing systems and styli are accessories for CMMs and optical measuring systems. Consisting of thousands of interchangeable components, probing systems allow the capabilities of a measuring machine to be customized for the specific requirements needed to inspect a part.

White Light Scanner Systems \ A White Light Scanner (WLS) is a device for measuring the physical geometric characteristics of an object in 3D. WLS systems use rapid-exposure digital stereo vision technology to transform 2D and 3D images into highly accurate dimensional data.

Hexagon Metrology distributes Leica theodolites to industrial markets worldwide.

    Leica Total (Laser) Stations meet the highest standards even under tough conditions. The extreme measurement volume of over 500 m makes a total station the first choice for the inspection and assembly of very large components. Hexagon metrology is a distributor of Leica Total Stations to industrial markets worldwide.

    Hexagon Metrology manufactures a comprehensive line of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) in a wide variety of configurations. Manual and automated systems are available ranging from benchtop to bridge to ganty and horizontal arms. Application flexibility is achieved via a wide variety of available sensors, including touch, analog scanning and non-contact. Brands offered are Brown & Sharpe, DEA, Leitz, Serein, Sheffield and TESA.

    Hexagon Metrology produces thousands of types of benchtop gauges and hand tools. Calipers, thread gages, bore and height measuring devices are suitable for countless applications in the metrology laboratory or on the production floor, often in combination with mechanical instruments or stationary machines. Length and angle standards are indispensable for the calibration of measuring equipment. Traditional mechanical and electronic precision measuring gauges provide portability, extended service life and large variety of measuring ranges. Brands offered are TESA, Brown & Sharpe, Standard Gage and CEJ.

    A laser tracker is a portable measurement system that relies on a laser beam interferometer to accurately measure and inspect in a large radial volume. Expansion or automation of a laser tracker system with hand-guided scanners, wireless probes or robot applications opens up an enormous number of possible applications in many industries. Leica Geosystems (Metrology division) produces laser trackers exclusively for Hexagon Metrology’s industrial customers under the Leica brand.

    Hexagon Metrology delivers on-machine inspection capabilities for a variety of machine tool configurations and controls. Infrared touch probes, radio touch probes, temperature probes and tool setters along with software under the m&h brand deliver machine shop inspection capabilities.

    Hexagon Metrology offers a complete range of measuring systems using optical/video based technology with multiple sensor versatility. Video and multisensor systems are offered under the Optiv, Brown & Sharpe and TESA brands.

    Portable arm CMMs are used to ensure part quality in circumstances where traditional measuring methods are impractical or impossible. Dimensional inspection right at the point of production can increase overall productivity, improve processes, reduce scrap and eliminate rework. Brands offered under this category are ROMER and CIMCORE.

    Hexagon Metrology offers complementary probing systems, styli and accessories for all of its portable and stationary measuring systems, including measurement probing systems for machine tools. Brands offered are TESA, Leitz and m&h.

    The Cognitens white light scanner (WLS) system uses rapid-exposure digital stereo vision technology to transform 2D and 3D images into highly accurate dimensional data. White Light Scanner systems are ideal when high speed acquisition and environmental insensitivity are critical factors. Manual or robot-mounted systems are available under the Cognitens brand.

    Hexagon Metrology offers several laser scanning probe technologies. Articulated arms, stationary CMMs and laser trackers equipped with 3D laser scanners can perform inspection and validation, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping and copy milling.
